How does our Jonesboro Class work?
Friday evening you will meet with your instructor at our store in Jonesboro to be fitted for equipment and go over any of the learning material you may have struggled with as well as key topics we want to make sure you understand. Saturday and Sunday morning you will meet us at the Jonesboro pool (the YMCA on Nettleton) to begin your pool sessions and actually don the gear to practice skills and enjoy the fun of being underwater.
Your instructor will also discuss your check out dive weekend with you and get you scheduled to go to either Norfork Lake or Mermet Springs to complete your certification.

What You Learn
The Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:
- Knowledge Development (online, home study or in a classroom ) to understand basic principles of scuba diving,
- Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills,
- Open Water Dives to review your skills and explore!
If you've participated in a Discover Scuba Diving experience or resort course, the skills you learned may be credited towards a portion of the full PADI Open Water Diver course certification.
Prerequisites
To enroll in the Open Diver course or Junior Open Water Diver course, you must be:
- 10 years or older (eLearning requires a minimum age of 13 years due to international internet laws).
The Fun Part
The fun part about this course is...well, just about all of it because learning to dive is incredible. You breathe underwater for the first time (something you'll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver. During the course, you'll make at least five pool dives and four dives at local dive sites under the supervision of your Instructor.
The Scuba Gear You Use
In the Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear including a dive computer, and standard accessories. The equipment you wear will be chosen by a J&T DIVE SHOP Representative to ensure your comfort throughout the course.

These items MUST be purchased from our store or there will be an added $100 fee to your class.
The Learning Materials You Need
Our course includes the cost of the digital code for your course. Almost everything is online nowadays and you will need to complete your online course work and testing BEFORE the Friday of your class. If you have any issues with online studying we can provide you with a physical course manual.

Open Water Diver materials cover what you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology and safety procedures. For each concept you'll read a description and watch a video demonstration. Then you'll jump in the pool (or pool-like environment) to practice these skills with your instructor.
