The Public Safety Diving Course is designed especially for Police, Fire, EMS and First Responders. This is a three day course consisting of classroom, and open water training dives. Day one is set aside for classroom. Days two and three are all diving and skills practice. Providing lots of hands on practice for each diver. If you are a member of dive team or would like to start a dive team for your community then this course is a must.
You’ll be introduced to the special procedures, equipment, scene handling, communications and documentation requirements for a public safety diving operation. During four open water dives you’ll practice compass navigation, knot tying, arc search techniques, victim recovery, rope-pull communications and rescue techniques for a distressed public safety diver, just to mention a few.
There are some prerequisites for the course. Divers wanting to take this course must possess a PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent certification. In addition there are other courses that are recommended, such as Full Face Mask, Search and Recovery, Dry Suit, and Night Diver.
Cost for this class is $400, plus book.
